Frequently Asked Questions

Test and Tagging your appliances will make sure that your appliances are safe, that you comply with the requirements of your insurance company, and that you’re legally protected. Testing and tagging is a compliance issue and a requirement for any business that has staff using electronic equipment.
A PAT is an electronic testing instrument designed to perform a range of automatic tests on plug-in type electrical equipment as outlined in AS/NZS 3760:2010. All our technicians are qualified and equipped with the latest PAT.
Your RCD is designed to trip or switch off all the power to that circuit. The quicker an RCD trips, the smaller the electric shock sustained by an individual. Yes, your RCD needs to be tested and tagged in accordance with AS/NZS 3760:2010 to ensure that it will respond in a fault situation and that it will also respond within the required time frame. Should it not trip in the required time, a fatal and extensive electric shock may be delivered.

Different classes of equipment, RCDs, Cords and Power Boards need to be inspected at different intervals. Environments such as factories and workshops need to be checked more frequently than equipment in residential use.

Hotels, Pubs, Restaurants, Gyms, shopping centres, aged care facilities, Schools/childcare and Beauty/Therapy, are all industries that require frequent Test and Tag and some can vary from others so Call us now and find out what is required for your specific equipment and situation.
